Starter SEO Checklist

Making sure your website and business is actually found is also so important! An easy way to make your website searchable by your ideal customers is by using these basic SEO (search engine optimization) measures in your site. Here are some simple ways you can start to optimize your SEO, especially if you have a new blog or website (or never bothered with SEO!):

✅ Make sure your domain is secure and has with an SSL certificate (this comes automatically with a domain purchased from Squarespace)

✅ Rename your images with keywords and/or descriptors of image (write these in “image alt text” in the photo editing box)

✅ Naturally add plenty of keywords in your website copy

✅ Sign up for a Google business account (if applicable)

✅ Verify/submit URL to Google

✅ Create a custom 404 page (to “save” broken links and lost customers)

✅ Keep updating and producing regular relevant blog posts (with more keywords!)

✅ Try out the free SEOspace plugin to assess your website’s SEO “score” and check out where you might need some improvement (I highly recommend their SEO course as well!)
